The antioxidant resveratrol and curcumin (the active substance of the spice turmeric) both show promise as natural chemosensitizers—substances that can help overcome resistance to chemotherapy drugs

Both nutrients have a wide spectrum of anti-cancer actions and functions

By modulating inflammatory pathways and inflammatory molecules, resveratrol may also help alleviate many of the debilitating side effects of conventional cancer treatment, such as wasting, fatigue, depression, neuropathic pain, cognitive impairment and sleep disorders

Among all nutrients, curcumin has the most evidence-based literature supporting its use against cancer. Researchers have found that curcumin can affect more than 100 different pathways, once it gets into a cell

Epigenetic regulation constitutes an important mechanism by which dietary components can selectively activate or inactivate gene expression. Both curcumin and resveratrol induce epigenetic changes

Off for a curry then!

What are you going to do in the Gym this month?

We are completely transparent in what we preach. N0 amazing get fit in a fortnight – No get sexy in two weeks. No get muscles in a month – in fact nothing in what we preach will be recognised by the mainstream fitness industry sellers. That is why we stand alone in the corner. That is why we say – ‘Ain ‘t nobody gonna do this but you’ And that is why we say – today make that change and begin to get fit for the rest of your life.

No you don’t have to look like Arnie.

No you don’t have to have the body of super slim sexy model.

No you don’t have to listen to cheap marketing gimmicks that promise you miracles.

Yes you do have to put the effort in and visit the gym .

The greatest challenge of all is to make you aware that to be fit doesn’t mean you have to be the best. It means you have to exercise to the best of your ability. Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything, but you have paid your membership fee and we want you to get the best results.

The Treadmill
Such bad press.

Its boring.

It uses different bio mechanical functions.

It’s not really running.

I plod along not knowing what to do.

Yet the treadmill is one of the most used pieces of equipment in the gym. It seems that going outside (free of charge) is not want people want to do – they like the feeling of exercising together, so the treadmill has that joint – lets exercise together feel good about it – and hey whilst we are there lets watch TV too ?

Lets get on the treadmill and make the most of the session.

Lets think about using the incline to run on.

Lets think about not walking on it (You can use outside for that)

Don’t hold on to the sides (unless for safety) and increase the incline – use your arms to pump the body along.

Use the Treadmill for short sharp bursts and get recovery in.

Set yourself little challenges and don’t stop till you reach them.

Enjoy the session and build up your aerobic fitness.

The Treadmill is a fantastic piece of engineering. Space saving and very efficient for increasing heart rate. Think about it, a lot of studies are based using the treadmill – that because in a space saving laboratory that’s all you have to work with. So if , its good enough for leading scientists to create data from – It should be good to exercise on.

Use the treadmill as part of a multifunctional cross training experience in the gym. It’s not the only piece of equipment there , but its certainly one of the best and most expensive. Make your membership fee work for you.
