This new strength & conditioning workout is a group fitness classe that utilise training methods from a spectrum of fitness and athletic disciplines. We incorporate smart, structured strength training, functional and powerful conditioning, appropriate speed and agility work, and flexibility and mobility. Classes are kept small to ensure a low client:trainer ratio and allow our qualified and experienced trainers to instruct and coach closely and individualise training when appropriate.

What's involved: Carrying, throwing, dragging, pulling, and hitting a variety of things. Combining sled dragging, sandbags, sledgehammers, tractor tyre flips, ropes, half filled beer kegs, punch bags, farmers walk and of course the infamous Prowler! These classes specifically help our clients develop balanced physical abilities that improve health, performance and daily function including Strength, Endurance, Power, Stamina and flexibility.

Tom Devlin

Tom started his career at Balance Health Clubs in the café bar, working through front of house and finally into the gym and fitness studio after qualifying as a fully trained fitness instructor, personal trainer and studio instructor in 2006. Outside of Balance Tom recently started to work with the youth team at Northampton Saints Rugby club as a Strength and conditioning coach whilst also studying sport and exercise science at Northampton University. Tom is very passionate about fitness and health and feels it is vital to keep on the pulse in his own training as well as prescribing the most up-to-date training programmes for his customers.

Tom's University degree has a specific focus on biomechanics, injury, and exercise physiology.

Tom enjoys the challenge of further professional development and this has seen him undertake advanced fitness instruction certification through the YMCA whilst also developing into the fields of body combat through Les Mills Training and studio cycling through Keiser. Through his continuing development Tom has obtained membership with the United Kingdom strength & Conditioning association (UKSCA) and is set to complete PCIP level 1 strength coaching and BioSignature modulation coaching certificates from the Poliquin Institute.

Tom’s vast background knowledge and charismatic teaching style mean that his classes are always fun filled, challenging and goal driven. Come and join in for our flagship “Big Wednesday” Body Combat experience at Balance Health Clubs.
